Where you are now standing is an historic river ford on the Goshen - Logansport trail, a vital link between early population centers in 19th century Indiana. This scene depicts Sanford C. Cox account of he and his companion crossing the river on the tenth of January, 1834. Both broke through the icy river and were refused refuge in Benack's cabin to warm themselves.
