Born in London, Peter came to
Savannah in 1733. Orphaned, he
was apprenticed and rose to
master in the carpentry trade
and leader of the artisans of
Savannah. His tavern was the
site of many of the banned
meetings that organized
resistance to and independence
from Royal rule.
