Samuel B. Thompson owned and operateddock and warehouses at the foot ofThompson St. (now Wharf St., name changedabout 1951). Thompson's warehouses wereburned by Union soldiers in 1864.???After the Civil War, Albert S. Chalkeroperated the docks and on July 7, 1873, wasalso granted the right to operate a ferryacross Black Creek about 200 yardsupstream from th docks.
