Croxton's Brigade, Brannan's Division,
14th Army Corps.


Text on the Back Side:

September 19th, 1863, this Battery, Lieutenant Marco B. Gary commanding, accompanied the Brigade into action, but the nature of the ground gave but little opportunity to employ its pieces.

September 20th, occupied this position till about noon, when the break occurred in our lines, the enemy turning our right; Battery faced to the right, guns double-shotted with canister, and fired, with great effect, on advancing lines of enemy. About 1:00 P.M. for want of support was forced to retire.

Loss, Killed 4: Wounded 9: Total 13. Horses killed 26.
