Something Else

This landmark was put up right after my grandma passed away in 1978. I presently still live in the Old Metairie and pass down Metairie Rd. into New Orleans quite often. I always take a brief look at the landmark and the memories of Josephine Ann Chartier, my grandmother comes to mind. Pierre Chartier was my great, great, great grandfather.
I noticed and I thought the letters were painted and peeling off. This morning I stopped by to see if I could clean it, realizing it is coved with fugues to were it is not legible and I took a picture so I could send to you all. Not knowing who to contact in the matter of cleaning the landmark to it's original state. Maybe someone could please advise how to clean without damaging the writing.
