In honour of our hero, Dr. Roberta Lynn Bondar, O.C., O.ONT., M.D., PH.D., F.R.C.P.(C), neurologist, biologist, pilot and researcher. Canada's first female astronaut was a crew member on the United States of America's Space Shuttle "Discovery" from January 22 to January 30, 1992.Our community is extremely proud of her outstanding dedication, performance, spirit and significant contributions to the mission.Doctor Bondar was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. She received her primary and secondary education in local public schools.
