1845-1920

Driving 1000 head of sheep, A.R. Cauthorn, with 9 year old son, James Albert, and brother Dan came from Missouri to Abilene in 1882. Wife Marcina Green Cauthorn died in MO. Son Bob came to TX. in 1891. Unhappy with the land, A.R. drifted south, settling in Sutton Co. in 1887. He
married Luella Seales in 1886 in Snyder. Their children were Stella (Altizer) Ida, Bill, Dan, John and Mack. The land is still owned and operated in 1990 by A.R.'s grandchildren and great- grandchildren in Sutton Co. & Val Verde Co. Albert Russell Cauthorn left a legacy of integrity, fairness and honest dealing.
