Fayette Historic State Park

Single employees found room and board at the hotel or in boarding houses like the one located here. In 1880, almost half the men at Fayette were boarders.
Many residents, like Annette and John DeVet, took in boarders to supplement their income. Typically, immigrant residents of similar nationalities lived together.
