English translation:The Garden of the Roses The official name of this garden is given in honor of the professor of San Nicolás de Hidalgo, Luis González Gutiérrez, while the popular name of The Garden of the Roses come from the religious educational group located nearby. Originally it had a water supply for the neighborhood and some trees, but with the modifications made to the gardens during the second half of the 19th century, new landscaped areas and ornamental vegetation were integrated. The rectangular configuration, elongated on the east-west axis, generates a pedestrian walkway with a centrally located stonework fountain. The fountain is concentrically circular with curved edges and reliefs on its external face. On the

outer part of the curb at the level of the floor, a step and a floor of worked-stone tiles is arranged radially, with the ridge placed on a pedestal with a quadrangular section that supports a balustrade column, which in turn supports the shell-shaped spillway on which a pineapple element that acts as a water fountain stands out. A central transversal axis is marked with two small lots occupied with trees that define the symmetry, which includes eight spaces framed with stonework garrisons that houses developed landscaped areas. At the ends of the central walkway, there are eight stone benches that complete the harmony of this space. It also contains two sculptures authored by Ignacio Asúnsolo in 1947, one to commemorate the fourth centenary of the birth of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in memory of the famous writer and the other of the first bishop of Michoacán, Vasco de Quiroga.
