A detachment of the company served one 32-pounder smoothbore gun in this position from about May 24 to the end of the defense, July 4, 1863. One 30-pounder Parrott rifle was served in this position by a detachment from a Missouri battery from the morning of May 10 to the afternoon of May 22, when it burst while being fired on an advancing union column.
