The Cleves Warsaw Road Bridge, a 244 foot long
camelback through truss carried County Road 209 over
Muddy Creek from 1923 to 2013. The bridge was
constructed by the Brackett Construction Company of
Cincinnati. Plans were completed by the Massillon
Bridge and Structural Company, with standard truss
design elements developed by the Ohio Department of
Highways, Bureau of Bridges. The bridge featured rolled
steel members, riveted connections, and cantilevered
sidewalk.

Camelback and Parker trusses have a distinctive
sloping top chord, but share the vertical structural
members of the Pratt truss design
patented in1844 by Thomas and Caleb
Pratt of Boston, Massachusetts. The
sloping design of the Camelback and
Parker truss variation used fewer
materials, which made them a cost-
effective choice for spans longer than
200 feet. The bridge was determined eligible for inclusion on the
National Registry of Historical Places for technological
significance in 2008 by the Ohio Department of Transportation
and State Historical Preservation Office as one of the last
representative examples of Camelback through trusses in the
State of Ohio. It was replaced in 2013 due to its deteriorated
condition.
