From the late 1860's to the present
day businesses have come and gone
in Upper Lake. At the time of the 1924
fire the concrete building at 9449 Main
was Doc Niderost's Home Pharmacy
complete with soda fountain. It not
only survived the fire but kept it from
spreading.

Several doors north at Peregrina's
Meat Market, hunters could rent freezers to keep the deer they took in the surrounding hills. Deer were plentiful in the past and brought many hunters at the beginning of hunting season.
In 1966 an all-night pancake feed was started to welcome them.
