Known as "The Bulldog" for his tenacity on the mound, Sanders spent three seasons with the Brewers during his nine-team, 10-year Major League career. Named the Sporting News Fireman of the Year in 1971 after leading the Major Leagues with 31 saves, 83 appearances and 77 games finished. Also recorded seven wins with a 1.91 ERA in 136.2 innings pitched that season. His 31 saves set a franchise single-season record that stood for 18 years. Posted 61 saves and a 2.21 ERA in 321 innings pitched over 195 appearances as a Brewer. At the time of his induction into the Wall of Honor, Sanders' 2.21 ERA as a Brewer was the lowest in franchise history among pitchers with at least 100 appearances.HM Number | HM2LSU |
