durante la intervención francesa. Éste monumento es un símbolo para Monterrey, en 1956, se convirtió en Museo Regional de Nuevo León, con el fin de conservar el valioso patrimonio histórico de nuestro estado. is one of the most valuable historical monuments in northeastern Mexico. It was built at the end of the colonial era by the Franciscan Bishop Friar Rafael José Verger in 1787. During the 19th century it was used several times as a military fortress, being bravely defended by Mexican troops during the American invasion and also during the French Intervention. This monument is a symbol for Monterrey and in 1956 it became the Regional Museum of Nuevo León in order to preserve the valuable historical heritage of our state.
