Inscription
Born January 8, 1820, Stuart was prosecuting attorney of Doddridge County, 1852-1861. After voting against secession at the Richmond Convention, he was elected senator of the Restored Government of VA. He also served as a delegate to the constitutional convention and was lieutenant colonel of the 14th WV. Later a circuit judge and a state legislator, Stuart died in 1888.
