English:
Saint Joseph's Convent, under the leadership of the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame, had the distinction of being the first convent school in an Acadian parish in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

It was opened in 1864 and expanded in 1922. In 1866, approximately 90 girls attended classes at the convent where they studied English, French, geography, history, education, grammar, music and embroidery. This bilingual educational institution, which became a public school in 1902, provided quality education to its students. From 1914, boys were allowed to attend classes at the convent. In addition to their contribution to education, the Sisters significantly contributed to the religious and cultural life of the parish. By the time the convent closed in 1984, it had been the home of approximately 130 Sisters.
