Built in 1850, Hackerman House, formerly the Thomas-Jencks-Gladding Mansino, was given to the City of Baltimore by Willard and Lillian Hackerman in 1984 and conveyed to the Walters Art Museum by the Honorable William Donald Schaefer in 1985. Hackerman house was opened to the public by the Honorable Kurt L. Schmoke, on May 5, 1991.
