In 1938, the celebration of the 150th anniversaryof the United States Constitution, the VirginiaDaughters of the American Revolution sponsoredthe planting of Constitution Forest in this area.With the help of the Civilian Conservation Corpsand the United States Forest Service, the memorialforest commemorates the Virginia framers of theConstitution. In 1987, the 45 acres of red andwhite pine seedlings have matured to a forestthat provides protection for birds and otherwildlife as well as for the watershed of theJames River.
