Tiyatro Çeşmesi
English: The theater fountain is located within vaulted niche of 11.85 m inserted into the supporting wall of the theater (Analemma). This fountain, without doubt, not only serves the audience of the games in the theater, but also to the dense human traffic strolling on the upper terrace where the monumental public buildings of the city are located. Dated to the 4th century B.C. and covering an area of 10.60 x 6.00 m, this monumental fountain has a very special design. In "⨅" form, in between its side walls, the two columns are located in-antis. Pools extending in front of the side and back walls leave a court in the center. Water channeled first to a channel located high up inside the back wall is directed to five gutters, from where its sprinkles to five corresponding openings on the platform. In this way reaching to a lower canal, it is then directed to the six gutters - two on each wall - pouring into the fountains. Square openings, above each of the gutters on the side walls, facilitate maintenance of the channels.HM Number | HM1LCD |
