English translation:The Acropolis
Here simple platforms were built in the Late Preclassic (100 BC) that were modified in 500 AD, when the political and administrative center of Kaminaljuyu was established in this place. Blocks of pumice and a mud mixture were used to construct the buildings that had slope/panel facades, sometimes painted red.On top of the buildings simple structures made of poles and palm leaves were constructed. When the buildings were abandoned, they were covered with mud and another building was built over the earlier building. The construction style is similar to Teotihuacan in central Mexico. The last modification was made in the Late Classic (800 AD) and was a more open type of construction made with large blocks of hardpan soil.
