Nothing was more important for communication and transport than a good road. Here you can see the wagon track that connected the Enoree and Broad rivers and prompted the British to establish camp nearby. The road ran through the center of the American line and played a strategic role in the Battle of Musgrove's Mill. When Patriot forces headed south from the Broad River toward Musgrove's Ford, they stayed off the main road to avoid detection in a region controlled by Loyalists. Finally, rejoining the road near here, the Americans tried to spy on the enemy encamped along the Enoree's south bank.
