Graham was born & raised in Green Co. He was headmaster of Greensburg Academy, located at this site, from 1818-1823. In 1826, he moved to New Salem, Il. where Abraham Lincoln attended his school learning grammar and arithmetic. They remained close and Lincoln invited Graham to sit on the platform for his 1861 presidential inauguration.
