Jackie Robinson, A Man Most Noted For His Athletic Skills, As A True Pioneer For Civil Rights In America .While In The Army He Was Court-Martialed For Refusing To Move To The Back Of A Bus In Fort Hood, Texas. He Won Acquittal On All Charges. After His Retirement, From His 10 Years With The Dodgers, He Was One Of The First Black Executives In America When Named Vice President Of Chock-Full-OF-Nuts Restaurants . He Used His Stance For Human Rights By Fighting Anti Semitism And Fundraising For The National Association For The
Advancement Of Colored People (NAACP) And Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He
Supported Many Political Candidates And Showed That A Multi-Racial, Non-Partisan Approach Was The Way To Get Things Done For His Fellow Man. He Joined Dr. King In Birmingham, Alabama To Show His Support For The Protest Movement. Jackie And His Wife, Rachel Hosted A Jazz Festival To Raise Bail Money For The Birmingham Protestors. This Annual Connecticut
Festival Is Now Known As "Afternoon Of Jazz." Jackie Robinson Died Prematurely Of Complications Related To Diabetes At Age 53 On October 23, 1972.
