Inscription

Namnet härrör från det kungliga stallet, som låg på Helgeandsholmen. Bron nämns 1288 och ledde snett över Helgeandsholmen med fortsättning till Gustaf Adolfs torg. Broaria över norra och södra strömfåran kallades gemensamt Norrbro. Dess betydelse var så stor att de närliggande städerna under medeltiden ålades att bidra till underhållet. Dagens bro (från Keillers mek. verkstad) invigdes 1904. Den breddades 1978 med en täckt passage för riksdagsledamöterna (AOS arkitekter). Den stora granitskulp-turen togs ned från riksdagshusets tak på 1930-talet.


A bridge leading over to the royal stables is first mentioned in 1288. The present bridge was opened in 1904. It was widened in 1978 and an enclosed passage was added beneath the bridge to link parliament with its offices.
