Completed in 1857

Built in conjunction with the Great Eastern Storehouse, this warehouse contained the offices of the Chief Engineer of the Dockyard. The weighbridge for the Yard can still be seen at the northern end of the building. The roof catchment, like those of the East, South and North Storehouses, discharges into the large water tank below Sail Loft. Keeping the fleet supplied with water was always a concern, as there are no natural springs or rivers in Bermuda and rainwater was collected and stored as it is to this day. The top of the Dockyard's Northwest Rampart was later painted with whitewash and was one of the largest water catches in Bermuda. There was storage for over 3,000,000 gallons of water in the Dockyard.
