This tablet is erected by theCommonwealth of Massachusettsto mark the site of theFirst House Built by the Pilgrims.In that house on the27th of February 1621 new stylethe Right of Popular Suffrage wasexercised and Miles Standish waschosen Captain by a majority vote.On or near this spot April 1st1621 the memorable Treaty withMassasoit was made.
