The Town of Bath was plotted on land that had belonged to Thomas Lord Fairfax. These two lots were purchased on August 26, 1777, by six men on behalf of a German church. Although the original plan was to build a church and two houses on these lots, instead the property became a burial site known as the Dutch, or Deutsch (German), cemetery. Included in this graveyard are DAR memorials honoring one Revolutionary War patriot, one soldier, and two soldier-patriots.
