The Sacred Grove In the spring of 1820, Joseph Smith entered this remnant of an ancient forest to kneel in prayer. The vision he beheld of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ initiated the restoration to the earth of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did on reality speak to me....I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it. -Joseph Smith Jr.
