English:Former Convent dedicated to Our Lady of Transit o de La MejoradaNational HeritageThis compound of structures was built by the Franciscan's in the XVII century in two stages, beginning with the

Church (1640) and later the Convent (1688-1694). In 1861, as a result of Reforma Law, the convent was used as a hospital, then later hosted the School of Arts and Apprenticeship. Then, it was used as a living facility for family members of military assigned to Dragons Military Base. Since 1975 it has been hosting the Architecture School. The set of buildings and streets surrounding the area is called
Barrio de La Mejorada (De la Mejorada neighborhood). During the henequen period in Yucatan, between the XIX and XX century, it served as a hub of industry supporting the needs of henequen haciendas.
