The Park Carousel

A park highlight is the 1921 Dentzel Carousel. In 1960, the park's first Civil Rights protest occurred on the Carousel. After Glen Echo Park became a national park unit, local residents raised $80,000 in one month to keep the Carousel here. Thanks to their efforts it is one of the few Dentzel Carousels remained in its original location and is still enjoyed by people of all ages.
