First Public House
Near this spot, about the year 1730, the first settler of Fitchburg, David Page, built a garrison house which he lived for several years. Here in 1761 the first public house opened by Samuel Hunt. In this tavern were held, in 1764, the first town meeting, the first public religious services, and the first public school.HM Number | HM2FRD |
