Dedicated in November of 1913, Huntley Hall was named for Board of Trustees member Byron Huntley. Mr. Huntley designated $10,000 in his will toward construction of the building in honor of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Huntley, and his sister, Miss Frances E. Huntley. Virginia Union professor Charles T. Russell, the first African American certified architect of Virginia, supervised construction of the building, which was a residence hall for men.
