The company was attached to Featherston's brigade of Loring's division in the battle of Champion's Hill, May 16, and was not closely engaged. At the close of that battle it fell back with the army to Vicksburg. A detachment served one 6-pounder gun and one 12-pounder howitzer in this position from the morning of May 19 to the end of the defense July 4, 1863.
