Only the very best quality stone
was used for dock construction.
The Belfast Harbor Commissioners visited
the site regularly to inspect progress.

——————————————
Irregular stonework was used to
strengthen the dock walls.
This was in case a ship
accidentally collided with them.

——————————————
Kilns for burning lime were specially built
and used on site to create a lime mortar.
This was used to bind
the stone slabs together.
