"Forward, men, forward! Never let it be said that Texans lag in a fight!"
They never did, and neither did he.
God rest his soul.

Near this place on November 30, 1864, the men of Granbury's Texas Brigade gallantly charged, suffered, died, and gave all for a cause they passionately believed in and which soon was to be forever lost.
