1977-1981

Joined the Brewers in 1977 as the first free-agent signing in franchise history. His five seasons in Milwaukee concluded his 16-year Major League career, which included four All-Star selections as a member of the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics. Primarily a third baseman, Bando saw time at every infield position during his Brewers tenure, even pitching three innings of relief on August 29, 1979. Best season with the team occurred in 1978 when he led the 93-win Brewers in games (152), plate appearances (629) and hits (154). Also hit .285 with 78 RBI and a .371 on-base percentage that season. Bando remained an integral part of the Brewers franchise after his playing days, serving as the General Manager from 1991 to 1999.
