One of the most successful pitchers in Brewers history, the Southpaw appeared in 239 games for Milwaukee over an eight-year span. Best season occurred in 1978 as the A.L. Cy Young Runner-Up with a 22-9 record, A.L.-best 23 complete games and franchise-best 2.36 ERA, from 1978-1983, led the A.L. in innings pitched (1,384) and complete games (75), ranked second in shutouts (18) and fourth in wins (91). His winning percentages in 1978 and 1979 ranked fifth and second in the A.L., respectively. A key starter on the 1982 team, Caldwell earned the wins in game one and game five of the 1982 World Series. Retired as the franchise leader in winning percentage (.560), ERA (3.74) and complete games (81).
