One of the most productive players during the franchise's first five years, May led the Brewers in multiple categories from 1970 to 1974, including games (679), plate appearances (2,706), hits (637) and runs (311). Enjoyed his best season in Milwaukee in 1973, when he earned an All-Star selection and hit .303 with 25 home runs and 93 RBI. That year, he led the A.L. in total bases (295), ranked second in hits (189) and finished eighth in MVP voting. Also a valuable defender for Milwaukee, May placed in the top five among A.L. outfielders in putouts each season from 1971 to 1973.
