A seventh-round draft pick by the Brewers in 1993, Loretta debuted in 1995 and spent the first eight of his 15 Major League seasons in Milwaukee. A versatile utility player, Loretta played every infield position other than catcher during his tenure, including pitching an inning of scoreless relief against the Cincinnati Reds on June 20, 2001. Enjoyed his best season with Milwaukee in 1998 when he hit .316 with a .382 on-base percentage. Finished Brewers career with a .289 batting average and .355 OBP, ranking in the top ten in each category in franchise history among players with at least 2,000 plate appearances. Would later earn two All-Star selections: 2004 (San Diego Padres) and 2006 (Boston Red Sox).HM Number | HM2LBP |
