Famous feet walked these shores

English Texts:

Magdala was the hometown of Mary Magdalene - one of Jesus' most faithful followers.

Luke 4:15, Matthew 4:23; 9:35; Mark 1:39 "Jesus went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people."

Considering the geographical location of the nearby Via Maris and the amount of time Jesus spent in this area during the 3 years of his public life, it is highly probable that Jesus ministered here. The Gospels describe Jesus as going through all Galilee teaching in the synagogues.

Matthew 15:39 "And sending away the crowds, Jesus got into the boat and came to the region of Magadan (Magadala)."

Roman historian Josephus Flavius also counted Magdala as his hometown from 66-67 AD.
