Selected in the sixth round of the 1970 draft, Travers pitched seven of his nine Major League seasons for the Brewers. Posted career-best season in 1976 with 15 wins in 240 innings. His 15 complete games contributed to his sparkling 2.81 ERA - eighth-best in the American League. That year, Travers was named to the American League All-Star Team and recognized as the Brewers Pitcher of the Year. In his final two seasons in Milwaukee, Travers compiled a 26-14 record, equivalent to a .650 winning percentage which ranked sixth-best in the A.L. during that period.
