The Franklin Housing Authority (FHA) was chartered 1953 and from that point has been a leader in providing safe, affordable housing in the Franklin community. The FHA owns approximately 53 acres on six sites in the core of Franklin. These sites originally contained 308 public housing units. In 2010, a master redevelopment plan was designed which will increase the number of affordable housing units available due to the demolition and rebuilding of new housing. The FHA not only provides housing for low and moderate income families but also programming to assist those families in gaining the services and skills needed to help them become self-sufficient and in many cases homeowners.
