lt is one of the town's oldest commercial buildings and was built in 1876.
The original building was a two story wooden structure and was replaced
after the tum of the century with a one story rock building The facade has
been updated several times and the interior has undergone total
refurbishment in recent years. In 1954 the Boone County Headlight (a
weekly publication) merged with the HDT. The paper was operated until
recently as a family business. It was founded by the Newmans and later
operated by the Dunlap and Christenson families. It is currently operated by Community Publishers, Inc.
