Camp Milton Historic Preserve

In Central Virginia, Confederate General Robert E. Lee and Union General Ulysess S. Grant met at Appomattox Court House to discuss the formal terms of surrender. On April 9, 1865 Lee and Grant signed the terms effectively ending the Civil War. This tree grew from a seed handpicked from the Appomattox Court House Tulip Poplar, where thousands of Confederate troops filed past and laid down their arms.
