West Sacramento River Walk
Just across the river and county line from West Sacramento is the City of Sacramento, seen here in a 1920s photograph looking east from 4th Street down J Street. California's capital city, which is also the seat of Sacramento County, has grown from a quaint river town into a thriving metropolis - a government, business, and media center with a lively arts and cultural community. By the time this photo was taken, levees protecting the city had been constructed and development had spread east and south with Alhambra Boulevard and Sutterville Road being the two primary boundaries of the city.HM Number | HMA8F |
