Ground was broken for the garage in 1911, with structure additions in 1917 and 1927. The initials stand for the owner Clarence Oliver Dangberg. Later, under the ownership of the Fred "Brick" Hellwinkel family, the C.O.D. garage was the oldest continuous family owned franchised dealership in Nevada. Over the years the company sold Chevrolet, Buick, Ford, Hupmobile, Jeep, Lauson Tractors, Goodyear Tires, offered AAA towing and sold gas under Union Oil and Shell canopies.
