"Oldest Silver Mining Town in Arizona"
Founded in 1862 with the discovery of silver, Chloride became the first mining town of the Cerbat Mountains. During it's heyday, 1900 to 1920, the population swelled to over 2000 with 75 mines in operation. Chloride was the first incorporated town in Arizona; the home of the state's oldest all-volunteer fire department and the state's oldest continuously operating US Post Office, established in 1871.HM Number | HMLAC |
