The Marker Is Missing
According to Saul Stember, author of The Bicentennial Guide to the American Revolution, Volume one The War in the North, Joshua Smith’s house was at the top of the hill how occupied by the Helen Hayes Hospital, in West Haverstraw, NY 10993. According to Wikipedia, it was torn down to accommodate an expansion the hospital wanted to do. I could find no marker there; nor at the coordinates on your website, which are well beyond the hospital, ENE on 202. The hospital cost to accommodate history, and mark the precise location of the house. It is of great interest to people such as myself, who like to relive history through the locations of it events. Treason House was the location of a particularly momentous event, the results of which could have resulted in the collapse of the American effort.
