The Cormaria Retreat House was built by
Frank C. Havens for his summer home. In
1902, Havens secured funds from the US
Congress to build the Breakwater. Replaced
in 2003, the Breakwater continues to protect
the harbor from northeast storms. In 1924
Havens widow donated waterfront to the east
Havens Beach, as a memorial to her husband.
