Replicas of two English 6 pounder guns and one French 4 pounder gun are mounted on field carriages and in place along the north and west wall. Field guns could be moved to cover a larger field of fire. These and other cannon and mortars were placed according to drawings by Revolutionary War Engineer Lieutenant Louis-Alexandre Berthier and according to a 1974 evaluation of the avenues of approach into the West Point area.
